The Light Eaters Make Waves

The Light Eaters under Drawoc's orders, attacked the Wave with renewed vigour. The Wave of Light although huge, began to diminish as the Light Eaters grew in size.
`Look at how they are growing', said Evil Eyes, triumphantly. `If they keep this up victory will soon be ours'
`But they're getting slower as they're getting bigger', complained Drawoc. `The Light is faster'
`Yes, yes, I know', spluttered Evil Eyes `But the more Light Eaters there are the better and with Buzzin' Gun out of the way, we cannot fail to loose'
`Speed is a great advantage', Drawoc argued
`So is quantity', snapped Evil Eyes. `Now divide the Light Eaters up into smaller groups and sort those two out'
Spitfire and Slasher had hitched a lift on a Light Eater and were sitting astride, each riding cowboy style and clearly enjoying themselves.
Drawoc zoomed towards them in his Space Hopper, whisking so close to Spitfire that he tumbled off.
`Where d'you think you are - at a fun fair', barked Drawoc. `If you can't be of any use keep out of the way'
`We's was encouraging them to move forward', said Spitfire, defensively.
`Thas right', nodded Slasher
`C'mon Slasher, let's go an' join Vespa Vroom Vroom an' her sista'
`And keep out of the waaaaay...aahhh'. Drawoc had no time to finish the sentence. He didn't see the Wave heading for him sideways on; it scooped him and his Space Hopper up and hurled him forward away from the Light Eaters; the Wave curved, and began to form a circle around the Light Eaters with Drawoc held aloft on its crest.
`Fool. Incompentent fool. Look at him', shouted Evil Eyes. `What does he think he's playing at'
The Buzzin' Guns whooped and hollered with joy as they surfed around the Light Eaters with Drawoc in front of them, screaming his frustration.
`Have some of your own medicine, Drawoc, baby' Foxy called out.
`DON'T CALL ME BABY', shouted Drawoc, above the Buzzin's Guns laughter.
`Let's take him for a ride', said Funnybone
The Wave whizzed around the Light Eaters with Drawoc bouncing uncontrollably as it did lap after lap.
Spitfire, Slasher, Vespa and Vespoola stared in wonder at the spectacle of Drawoc being carried by the Wave of Light.
`Told ya that Dragwort knowed nuthin' `bout battles', sniffed Vespoola, derisively. `An' this jus' `bout proves it'
`You's be right, sis. Makin' some kinda fool of `imself by tha looks of things'
The Wave did another full circle, surrounding the Light Eaters before releasing Drawoc.
`Enjoyed your ride', shouted Evil Eyes.
`I told you speed is an advantage and that proves it!'

In the House of Demons the dark is eternal and relentless, crowding in on its prey like a swarm of locusts so it can feed off of their fear.
Baby didn't have time to rejoice in his victory; no sooner was he united with Buzzin' when the dark gripped him again, separating them once more. Baby was pushed forward to face another monster of his imagination.
Baby felt the fear creep over him, but slower this time. He tried to fight it, remembering everything Buzzin' had told him about the Light, but not knowing what was about to come out of the darkness made each time seem like the first. Baby waited, wondering if each monster was going to be scarier than the last and if it was, how would he manage.
A sudden roar interrupted his thoughts, making his heart beat faster. A flame shot out of the darkness, licking the air like a huge tongue.
Baby trembled as another roar followed by another flame penetrated the dark. He could hear the creature getting closer.
`Think of the Light'. Buzzin's voice had that far-away quality that made Baby feel isolated.
`I don't know what it is yet', whimpered Baby.
`Another image'
Baby shivered as the roars grew louder and more terrifying; whatever it was, was big and angry...and getting closer. Suddenly, an enormous scaly head appeared out of the shadows...its mouth gaping open to reveal razor sharp teeth. Baby looked up at the monster towering over him; it threw its head back and roared as another flame shot out of its mouth.
A huge, menacing fire eating dragon! Baby was dwarfed against the enormous creature and felt even more vulnerable. Why do monsters have to be so big. He'd never liked dragons...not since he heard a story of one stealing and eating a small child. Afraid that a similar fate would happen to him, he'd locked away the fear in the dark of his mind, causing him to suffer occassional nightmares.
Now here it was and he was alone facing what he was afraid of.
The dragon looked fantastic...scaly, horny and frightening. Suddenly, it turned full circle, shooting flames in every direction. Baby gapsed in horror as the dragon turned to reveal another head.
`Aaaahhh', cried Baby. `This ones got two heads'
`It's just another fear image'. Buzzin's words penetrated the dark. `You know what do...c'mon'
Drawn by Baby's fear, the dragon moved closer. Baby couldn't move, held captive by the dark and his own fear, he felt helpless.
He knew he had to think of the Light. The dragon moved closer until Baby could feel the coldness of its breath.
`I can feel it, said Baby, whimpering
`It's your fear you're feeling, not the creaute', said Buzzin', reassuringly.
`But it feels like the dragon'
`Remember, it's made up of your imagination; replace what you don't like with Light'
The dragon seemed more terrifying than the snake and spider. Maybe that was it; maybe each fear was worse than the last.
Baby closed his eyes and forced himself to think of the Light. Thinking of the Light was easy when you had nothing to be afraid of but with a huge two headed dragon in front of you it was the hardest thing.
`All monsters disappear when they're covered in Light', said Buzzin' `The Light stops them from being monsters'
Buzzin's voice was barely a whisper. Suddenly, it dawned on Baby that the more he felt afraid the greater the separation from those he loved. The thought spurred him into action.
The dragon was shooting flames in every direction but Baby mustered all his will power forcing himself to focus on the Light; he squeezed his eyes shut until they almost hurt, trying to picture the Wave of Light...imagining himself surfing...speeding towards the Light Eaters, followed by Buzzin' and the rest of the gang.
Baby opened his eyes just in time to see the dragon send out another flame; Baby's heart almost skipped a beat; the flame was smaller, weaker and the dragon had shrunk.
Baby sucked in his breath, willing himself to think of the Wave of Light washing over the dragon.
The dragon opened its mouth and let out a feeble roar as it continued to shrink, fading back into the darkness.
`I did it. I did it again' whispered Baby as he watched the dragon disappear.
`I did it', he cried out loud.
Suddenly, Buzzin' was standing next to him. `I did again, Buzzin'
`Well done, Baby. You keep this up and we'll soon be back on the Wave with the others', said Buzzin'
`I hope there's not many more', said Baby
`So do I. We've gotta get outa here...soon Baby. They need us back there'...

The Wave of Light had diminished in size but not in brilliance; it sped over, under and through the Light Eaters, scattering them in every direction, causing waves of energy to vibrate and eventually filter down to Earth where the effects could be felt throughout the world.

Greg Schooster looked up at the drama being played out in the sky wishing he knew the answer to a problem that seemed bigger than the Universe itself. He was certain that any aggressive military action would exacerbate an already dangerous situation. Maybe that was the only answer they had for now...what not to do...not what to do...
